Little Kingdom (The)

The private story of Apple Computer

1984 - William Morrow and Company

Little Kingdom (The)
Apple Computer, Inc., is Silicon Valley's most precocious child. Started in 1976 by two college dropouts, the young, personal-computer company now has yearly sales of more than $1 billion! It reached the Fortune 500 more quickly than any other company, recorded one of the largest public stock offerings in history, and has since made more than one hundred of its employees millionaires. This unauthorized account of Apple is the first comprehensive profile of any successful Silicon Valley company. The Little Kingdom offers a detailed portrait of Apple's growth from the small plans of a garage workshop to the large ambitions of international businessmen. It delves into the curious lives of company founders Steven Jobs and Stephen Wozniak, explains Apple's strategies for success, examines its mistakes and blunders, and assesses the sudden shock of fierce competition from IBM.
The Little Kingdom contains fresh and revealing glimpses of the pressure and style inside Apple, includes excerpts from confidential meetings, and describes the intimate plans for the Macintosh and Lisa computers, which are now helping the company hold its own in the batde for control of the personal-computer industry.
